The Upande Ghat to Madhe Ghat trek is a delightful experience, especially during the monsoon season. This route has gained popularity among enthusiastic trekkers in recent years. Located adjacent to the well-known Madhe Ghat, Upande Ghat marks the last village within the Pune District before the trail enters Raigad District. The trek is characterized by lush green valleys and cascading waterfalls, offering a picturesque and serene environment.
Madhe Ghat, situated approximately 65 kilometers southwest of Pune, is bordered by Raigad District and lies in close proximity to Torna, Rajgad, Raigad, and the backwaters of Bhatghar Dam. This trek holds historical significance as it was the route taken by the funeral procession of the valiant warrior Narveer Tanaji Malusare, who died in the battle of Sinhagad. His body was carried through Madhe Ghat to his native village, Umrath, near Poladpur.
The trek involves a complete descent into a valley, making it a relatively simple yet rewarding adventure for trekkers of all levels. The scenic beauty and historical importance of this route make it a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful and enriching trekking experience.
